Minton Cockerel Rooster Teapot Hand Painted RARE Auc2
Here is a rare Minton cockerel teapot which has been beautifully hand painted in superb old colours.
This teapot is one of 2 I listing tonight. I used to have these on a large welsh dresser at each side and they looked very elegant indeed. Now having relocated to a smaller place, much of my long standing Cockerel collection has had to go. I had these valued a few year ago and was told a little about them.  I was told this teaot has the patent numbers for Minton. Apparently Royal Winton did a poor copy of these Minton teapots as they were very popular in those days. The age is around 1920's to 1930's. The Antiques dealer told me these were worth £80 to £ 100 each and now are really sort after.
I have to be honest and say that £85 was the actual price I paid for this teapot, so much did I like it. :) :)
The teapot is in very good condition for its age but it does have a couple of faults. The inside of the teapot rim (where the lids fits) has a small piece missing were the lug is. Not noticed at all when the lid is on. The teapot lid has 2 very tiny flea bites one at each pointed end of the lid, these hardly are noticeable at all. This teapot must have lived its previous life in a cabinet as it has no crazing at all inside and is in great condition.
No other damage to this wonderful teapot.
If you do a comparison of the 2 teapots you will see the colours are different, a clear example of hand painting, no 2 teapots were ever the same, something I really enjoyed to see.
Height is 6 and 1/4 inch and width is 9 and 1/2 inches.
