Book 1762 The Life of Richard Nash Esq Late Master of Ceremonies at Bath Extracted principally from his original papers
Full Calf. Book . Second Edition printed same year as the first; Hand tipped Portrait frontis and another engraved portrait of Nash taken from a painting by Mr Hoare. 8.1/4" x 5" Published anonymously in 1762. Richard "Beau" Nash was born in 1674 Swansea. After a year at Oxford & a brief tour of duty with the Guards in London, Nash took the job, Master of Ceremonies of the spa at Bath. He was a dandy, sported flashy clothing, enjoyed gambling and opf course the ladies. His magnetism helped turn the sleepy Bath into a fashionable prosperous town.
In very good condition tightly bound. Ex-library book. Edges of covers slightly scuffed, internal pages good slightly discoloured as expected for a book of this age.
