London: William Faden (vol. 1); R. Faulder (vol. 2), 1792 Very decorative contemporary hand-tooled calf covers (rebacked), marbled fore-edges, with minimal scuffing and rubbing, gilt-lettered spine.There is a date misprint in vol. 2 (D.DCC.XCII). Volume I with 154 pp, 6 folding maps (all copperplate engravings, elaborate detail, near fine condition), index of plates applicable to volume (xvi preface, dedication, contents). Volume II 190 pp, 5 folding maps (near fine), errata page bound at end, viii page contents and title page. Separate title pages for both volumes. Both volumes with 2 bookplates: one is an armorial plate of William long, the other the ex-libris plate of John & Myfanwy Piper. John Piper was the well-known 20th century English landscape painter, who had published a piece on the volume in the June 1939 "Architectural Review". This is a very nice set, with the full complement of of maps and aquatint plates. Faulder had worked with some map-sellers on other projects, a finding not unusual with th
