Folio sheet tipped in with a list of persons who subscribed towards the defence of the county in the time of the Spanish Armada 1588 and the amount contributed by each.. by John Noble.
Provenance Notes
Page of late C19th book catalogue of Charles Lowe, New Street, Birmingham tipped onto front e.p. describing the book as rare and for sale at 20s.
25/- written inside front cover.
Bought from Hants dealer who had bought the book at an auction sale along with Aubrey & Jackson's Wilts Collections, Jones's Domesday for Wiltshire and the Wilts chapter from England Illustrated. All items bore Gough's signature. The Wilts collections had the original 1890s bill of sale from a book seller named Stone in Salisbury. The state of the book today seems exactly as it was when purchased by Gough, except for the damp damage. So the extra illustrations were added slightly earlier.
