Original half calf, marbled boards. Boards rubbed and soiled but joints sound. No sign of a label. Internally quite grubby but in a nicely authentic, unrestored state.

; sl external wear). 4to [8],74pp T he first canto of the "heroico-odico-tragico-comico poem" (title page; the second and final canto would be published in the following year) by the not ed Bath clergyman and antiquarian, complete with pseudonymous preface and n otes. Halkett & Laing V, 32 (see also V, 102). Complete title page imprint: London: Printed for G. Wilkie and J. Robinson [by T. Davison], 1808. Bound in 3/4 tan calf over light brown marbled boards, gilt-stamped dark red mor occo spine label, plain endpapers. Exterior as noted (wear chiefly to head and foot of spine, corners and top edges; slight scuffing to covers); short tear to front free endpaper, slight wrinkling to few leaves, slight intern al browning and/or foxing, else a very serviceable copy of a really humorou s mock-epic poem. Provenance: 1) engraved armorial bookplate of Francis Fre derick Fox on front attached endpaper, with 2) printed label of H.T. Ellaco mbe, Clyst St. George, also present on front attached endpaper. Warner (176 3-1857), English divine and miscellaneous author; curate of St. James, Bath (1795-1817), rector of Great Chalfield (1809-57); noted also for his tours in the south and west of England and Wales. Illustrated by 1 engr illus (title page). 1st ed. Binding is hardcover.
