1868 - THE TODDLERS HOME - WILTSHIRE INTEREST - RARE
NOT LISTED IN BRITISH LIBRARY - CHILDRENS/ ILLUSTRATED
THE TODDLERS HOME
NORTH WILTSHIRE
ONE TOUCH OF NATURE MAKES THE WHOLE WORLD KIN.
MDCCCLXVIII
Selling here is a very scarce childrens / illustrated book entitled The Toddlers Home, published in 1868. Appears not to be held by The British Library or any other institutions. Lady Victoria Howard of Charlton Park, Wiltshire and her sister Mary opened a hospital for children beside the Cricklade to Malmsbury Road in 1870. This book predates that, and was perhaps part of a fundraising effort for it. The book contains title page and 21 (lacking plate 20) full page plates. An oblong folio bound in original orange boards with printed title and border in black and blue cloth spine. Page edge pink.
Condition: The book measures 30cm by 23cm. The binding is holding together firmly, boards slightly spotted and rubbed, with a few grubby marks. The pages are essentially loose as the adhesive of the binding has perished. Some grubbiness to edges of title, and some grubby finger marks and short closed tears to a few of the other leaves. Front free end paper lacking. A scarce item of Wiltshire interest.
