A general view from the north east with the abbey in the left distance by an unknown amateur. The crossing tower and transepts, completed in 1821, are clearly visible. One of the figures in the foreground is wearing a Tam o' Shanter. Apparently painted on a summer evening with the sun low in the north west. The street is Moodie Street. Nethertown Broad Street now occupies the site of the river (now underground).
