CONDITION: Good (see table below for details). Dirt and wear to front wrap and last page. Corners of pages clipped, no text affected. Inscription to front wrap. A little dirt to pages. Small stain to last couple of pages at hinge, and a couple of spots of foxing. Tear to top of one page. One page coming loose but still attached. *Photo(s) given of actual book.
CONTENTS: Full subtitle: "The cases and constitutions in which these waters are really properly to be used, and the best methods of using them, and likewise the cases in which they are hurtful and very dangerous;- and demonstrating the great errors in which mankind have hitherto been under, in regard to bathing in, pumping with, and drinking these wonderful and powerful waters.
To which are added, several very remarkable cures performed by Doctor Graham, under the immediate ocular inspection, and attested by the hand-writing of several of the principal nobility of Europe and some great cures performed at Bath."
A rare pamphlet extolling the benefits of the mineral waters of Bath. Starting with a brief history of the discovery of the medicinal qualities of the waters, this short work criticises many of the local doctors of Bath for failing to use the waters properly, and for insufficient use, ailments where the water is likely to be of use (and how long bathing/drinking should be performed), and reports and testimonies from patients of the author attesting to his miraculous use of the waters in their treatment.
