On offer is a booklet of twelve prints titled "VIEWS OF WATCHET'. Published by S Cox of Williton. Size- 19cm x 14cm. On the left of each picture is J S & Co and on the right is a number.. The pictures ( I am unable to say how these prints are properly described) are titled as follows: 1. Watchet Somerset with the New Harbour Pier - No.1842 2. The Harbour Watchet - No1843 3. St Decumana Church - Nox1845 4. Williton Somerset from Lines - No 1840 5. The Church Williton Somerset - No 1841 6. Blue Anchor Somerset - No 1846 7. St Audries House Somerset, The seat of Sir A. Hood, Bart - No 1847 8. St Auidries Church Somerset - No 1848 9. Washford Abbey Somerset - No 1844 10. Dunster Castle, The seat of H Lutterell Esq. - No 1138 11. Dunster - No 1822 12. Dunster from the foot of Conegar - No 1142. Unlike the other prints this one has Kershaw & Son London and not J S & Co The firs page has in black ink Mifs Williams. Condition: See above. The binding may be weak. There is a vertical break in the yellow paper covering the front board and forming the first page where the booklet opensThis extends just under half way up the page. The darkening referred to above is, I think, caused by lying the open booklet on the scanner and not pressing down to stop light entering from around the side. |
