[3]ff, 402, [2], 123 pp. Bound in contemporary calf, rebacked in tan goatskin, the spine divided into six panels with gilt pallets and fillets, lettered in the second panel on the original black goatskin label, the others tooled with a gilt centre, buff endleaves, sprinkled edges. (Corners repaired, edges of the boards worn, sides rubbed). Occasional browning (including the title and page of errata) and spotting and some offsetting from the plates. We regret that overseas customers may be asked for additional shipping. In two vols. Label of George Gregory, book merchant & library buyer, 5 & 5a Argyle Street, Bath. 'Notices of Roman Bath' (Simpkin, Marshall & Co, 1864), for some reason, is bound between pp32 & 33 of part I of 'The History of Bath'. Therefore professionally rebound at some point since 1864. The 'History' has complete text but ?complete plates as below. The 'Notices' has complete (51) plates but text does not appear complete. States there are 'extra illustrations'. There appear to be many extra illus. I assume all connected with Bath but it is difficult to tell which may have been part of the original volumes. Fair. 3/4 red morocco over grained cloth gilt stamped. 5 raised bands. Boards well rubbed & bumped at extrems. Teg, others uncut, dusty. Marbled pastedowns. Vol I. Upper inner hinge starting to crack. Prelims foxed. Ffep chipped at base. Plate of John Towneley Esq. pasted in. Spine sound. Vol II has tape repairs to the inner hinges & two further cracks. One more is starting. Numerous small marks, chips &c internally but nothing serious. Foxed eps, scattered light foxing. A few plates are slightly foxed, one or two more heavily. Difficult to collate the plates as I don't know the work previously. Vol I: sketch of Warner; eng. of Warner; George III; Charlotte; Prince of Wales; Geo.
