Thick, heavy cast iron. Probably early 19th century.
Seller bought it from a farm in Wellow (on the road in from Mercedes garage).
However. the location is considerably more than 6 miles from Bath.
Having researched it, its most likely location was near the bottom of Brassknocker hill, where the 3 mile sign has been lost since the 1960s. |
