| 18th century monochrome watercolour of "The Infant Jupiter" after Sir Joshua Reynolds. The original oil painting was lost in the Belvoir House fire of 1816, but it had been copied in mezzotint by J. R. Smith and published in 1775. This watercolour strongly resembles the mezzotint. A pencil note on the back attributes it to James Northcote who assisted Reynolds at that time. |
