| A mid-19th century amateur watercolour of the original Elizabethan Stow Hall. A note on the verso states "pulled down in 1783 - 4." The card mount has the embossed mark of a 19th century French maker of "Carton Bristol Francais". To my knowlege, no engraved images exist, so the artist was probably copying some earlier unique drawing or painting. That source image may have since been lost and this may be the only surviving image. |
