An mid-18th century copy by Pierre-Francois Beaumont (1719-69) of Cornelius Vischer's famous engraving of the Rat Catcher. Larger than the original and a mirror image.

The rat-catcher; three-quarter length, accompanied by a dog and a young boy on the right who holds a pole with a cage atop from which dangles a number of dead rats; the rat-catcher wears a fur cap and cape and has a box strapped to his person.
