Drawn by Geo Farington after the painting formerly attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, which has been kept in the Hermitage Museum since 1779. Published Mar 25th 1775 by Jn Boydell, Engraver in Cheapside, London. The painting is now tentatively attributed to Da Vinci's intimate friend and servant Gian Giocomo Caprotti (nicknamed Salai), who inherited the Mona Lisa after Leonardo's death. The painting, also known as the Monna Vanna, is one of at least ten nude pastiches of the Mona Lisa. Some believe them to have been copied from a lost nude Mona Lisa by Da Vinci himself.
