Wiltshire County Maps
63 65 : Neele, Samuel John 1813

This map was engraved to accompany The Agriculture of Wiltshire by Thomas Davis which was published in 1813. This was effectively a 2nd edition of the eponymous work of 1794 for which the map was Cary's. The map was colour coded to distinguish arable land from water meadows and downs. The perimeters of these areas were indicated by dotted lines engraved on the map.

The second edition appeared in 1818, in Dugdale's New British Traveller and Robins' Atlas of England and Wales. Here the wording relating to the Agriculture of Wilts was removed from below the title and a compass added in the top right. The dotted lines delimiting types of agricultural land remain.
