16 16 : Redmayne, William 1676

A very small map engraved on one of a set of playing cards. Although published in the same year as Morden's playing cards, Redmayne's cards were very different. The map is inaccurately drawn and has the suit mark engraved upon it in outline, ready to be filled in by hand.

Three states exist

1. 1676 in a pack pubished by Redmayne and four others.

2. 1677 with the suit mark engraved with cross-hatching in a pack published exclusively by Redmayne

3. 1717 with a narrow foliated border in place of the simple line border in a pack of "Historiographical Cards" published by John Lenthal, who also produced a pack based upon Morden's.

Examples can be found in the following English County Atlases.
96 : Redmayne PC (A pack of playing cards) 1676 in state 1
97 : Redmayne PC (A pack of playing cards) 1677 in state 2
