Wiltshire County Maps
10 10 : Jenner, Thomas 1643

In Thomas Jenner's re-issue of "A Direction to the English Traveller" the maps were erased and replaced with larger maps (twice the scale). These also had place-names - both within and outside the county boundaries. Hence Southampton appears on the Wiltshire map.

Thomas Jenner published these maps in several editions of "A Direction to the English Traveller" and "A Book of all the Parishes" between 1643 and 1668. In 1677 John Garrett published editions of the same works. For most counties the plate was revised at least once during this period. In all 3 editions of "A Direction to the English Traveller" the map is printed on a sheet without text on either side. In "A Book of the Parishes" there is text on both sides of the sheet.
