3 3 : Van den Keere, Pieter 1605 |

Pieter van den Keere (the son-in-law of Jodocus Hondius) began his series of maps in 1599 but the set was not published in book form until 1617. Some of the maps in the series have Keere's imprint and are dated 1599, but the Wiltshire map has no imprint or date.
1st edition published by William Jansson Blaeu, with latin title (Wiltonia) and plate number 146 in the upper right margin.
The 2nd state appeared in the 1619 edition by George Humble and has the title changed to English (Wiltshire) and plate numver 12 within the engraved area in the bottom right corner.
Numerous editions followed until 1676. These correspond with editions of Speed's "Theatre" and were published by William Humble, Roger Rea and Bassett & Chiswell. These can be distinguished by the text on the versos. There may have been alterations to the plate (further research required).
